Stuents, welcome back to another great year as a Salem Ram! And to our Kindergarten students and students that are new to our school, welcome to Salem Elementary School as a Salem Ram.
We are going to start off this year in Kindergarten and first grade working on Steady Beat. What is it? How do you perform it? Do you have to do it when you sing? We will answer all of these questions in the first couple of classes.
The second and third grade classes are going to be discussing Rhythm. What is it? Do we always do rhythm in every song? We will find out.
Third grade will be going on to learn the music for their program at our Winter Holiday time, Melton the Warm-Hearted Snowman. That program will be December 16th and they will perform for the school and at the PTA meeting that evening.
Fourth and Fifth grade will be learning about the Pentatonic scale and how to use that scale in a variety of songs. We will also be learning the pitch syllables to sing with just like the Von Trapp children did in "The Sound of Music".
Fourth and Fifth grade students don't forget about chorus. We will begin in couple of weeks.
Safety Patrols. I hope to have our first meeting within the next couple of weeks so that we can begin our duty assignments. I will let you know when and parents there will be a note coming home about that meeting time.
I look forward to another great year as a Salem Ram!
